The three things a Plex seedbox actually needs
Storage is the number everyone compares, and it is the least important of the three.
- Permission. The provider must allow the app on the tier you are buying, not merely somewhere in its catalogue. This single check eliminates a large share of the cheap plans on the market.
- CPU and RAM for transcoding. Direct play — where the client reads the file as-is — needs almost nothing. Where Plex is blocked — check before you buy

The three Essential tiers, from €4.95 to €12.05, are marked "Plex, Jellyfin or Emby: Not Allowed" on Ultra.cc's own grid. SeedHost.eu — streaming from HD 7 upward only
SeedHost.eu's entry plans are among the cheapest in our index — €3 for 1 TB, €5 for 2 TB — but streaming apps unlock only from HD 7, at €15.75 for 7 TB. Their FAQ also states you may run only one streaming app at a time on the shared range, and root access is reserved for the dedicated plans.
RapidSeedbox — no Plex on the Lean range
The two Lean plans, $9 and $15, run torrent clients only. Plex arrives with the Premium Stream tier at $33, which is also where the hardware becomes suitable for it. Clearly signposted by the provider, but easy to miss if you compare on price per terabyte.
Whatbox — Plex allowed, Plex Pass required
Whatbox supports Plex across its range but states plainly that an active Plex Pass is required. That is a separate subscription on top of your seedbox bill, and it should be counted when comparing their €14 entry plan against providers that include streaming outright.

How much transcoding do you actually need?
The honest answer for most libraries is: less than the forums suggest, but more than the cheapest tier provides.
- Direct play only. If you watch on an Apple TV, an Nvidia Shield or a recent smart TV, most files play untouched and CPU barely matters. Any allowed tier works.
